Why have Jane Austen's works stood the test of time and continue to delight the imaginations of readers of all ages?
What better way to spend an evening than sipping tea with my mother, watching Masterpiece theater's Northanger Abbey, eating See's chocolates, and practicing our charming yet inevitably ill-fated English accents from a time long ago as if we're sitting in a luxurious drawing room with maids drawing our baths. I dare say none at all!
"But when a young lady is to be a heroine, the perverseness of forty surrounding families cannot prevent her. Something must and will happen to throw a hero in her way."
- Northanger Abbey. Jane Austen
or my mother's favorite from the same novel:
"He has the best and truest of hearts."
